BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - HAVING won the Miss National Bank White Sands Swimsuit Competition, 20-year-old Danelia Huggins has her eyes set on competing in the prestigious St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival Queen Pageant.
SKNVibes spoke exclusively with the young beauty following the second annual competition which was held on Sunday (Jun. 30) at Carambola Beach Club in the South East Peninsula.
Huggins captured the White Sands title with 255 points, beating Felicia Silcott by a mere one point while Anita Sullivan was adjudged second Runner-up with 240 points.
The other contestants were Kersha Martin, Ashley Maloney, Natalia Williams and Dellecia Wilkes.
Maloney won the People’s Choice Award following a photo ‘Like’ competition that was conducted on Facebook.
Asked when she intends to compete in the National Carnival Queen Pageant, Huggins said it would be “either this year or next year...I'm not sure”.
This media house was informed that this was the first competition for the young Cayon beauty, who has been a member of the Movado Model Agency since September 2012.
Asked what inspired her to join a model agency, Huggins explained that she always used to watch the popular TV show, America's Next Top Model, which inspired her. She noted that many people used to tell her that she looked like a model and would compliment her on her beautiful smile.
As most people should know, the White Sand Competition is one that spotlights good physique.
Huggins was asked if she works out, to which she revealed that she did for three months in preparations for the competition.
Asked if she intends to continue working out at the gym, Huggins replied in the affirmativand added that she wants to keep “toned and looking good”.
The Miss National Bank White Sands Swimsuit Competition was part of the official ‘St. Kitts Music Festival Cool Down’ presented by Carambola Beach Club.
