BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ONE of the four Promotional Models of the 2013 St. Kitts Music Festival has debunked rumours which claimed that they were fired from their duties because of inappropriate behaviour.
The young lady, who wishes to remain anonymous, told SKNVibes that she wants to set the record straight, stating that it was a business decision which saw their contracts coming to an end on the eve of the 17th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival, on the grounds that they had “no further event to partake in”.
“I’m here speaking on behalf of myself to set the record straight, not to bash anyone on the (Local Promotions) Committee, about what took place…and the reason being our contracts were completed and not that we were fired.”
She pointed out that she is aware that there are rumors about them having slept with a named artiste.
“I did not do that and I’m pretty sure that the other girls would not have done that.”
She pointed out that they did not even get a chance to meet the artistes.
The young lady, during the interview, was accompanied by two relatives, both of whom spoke about the exemplary personality and character she possesses, of which other young people could emulate.
They were very upset over the false accusations against the girls whom they firmly believe have a lot of potential to contribute positively to society.
Asked how she felt about the rumour, the young lady said, “I felt low. I’m a strong person but I’m still human.”
As gathered, she pondered about the sour conclusion of their work as Promotional Models.
“Really, after all this work…this is the outcome?” was one of the thoughts she shared with this media house.
She hopes that following the publication of this article, the “rumours will be put to rest and we could just get on with our lives”.
“I have my life to live. I will hold my head high,” she added, while pledging to remain humble throughout her life.
The young beauty is encouraging people to treat each other in the same manner that they want to be treated.
According to the Chairman of the St. Kitts Music Festival, Faron Lawrence, the rumours about the Promotional Models “are not an issue” because there is no truth in them.
He praised the young ladies for diligently carrying out their ambassadorial duties, stating that they “represented themselves well”.
He condemned the perpetrators of the rumours and exclaimed, “I’m not sure where all of this is coming from!” while adding that the girls are “disheartened by what is being said”.
