BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – RENOWNED Jamaican Reggae family band Morgan Heritage and well-known Jamaican Gospel Reggae singer Carlene Davis are ready to rock their audience tonight (Sept. 18) at the Independence Super Concert to be held at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium in Basseterre.

The annual event falls on the eve of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis’ 30th Independence Anniversary and is free to the public, as usual, and is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.

Yesterday afternoon, members of Morgan Heritage and Carlene Davis, with their respective band members, arrived in St. Kitts at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport.

SKNVibes spoke with Mojo Morgan of Morgan Heritage and Carlene Davis.

Mojo Morgan shared how excited the band is to return to the Federation and perform songs off the new album entitled ‘Here Comes The Kings’, which is the band’s first studio album in five years.

“It's good to be back in St. Kitts. (Tonight) is gonna be another rockers moment…it's all about CTBC music. So get ready for a really fun entertaining family atmosphere. So we want to see all ages come out; it's not just a show for the young or just for the old, but for the young and the old.”

He continued: “The new album was released in June. Here Comes the Kings, our first studio album in five years…so it's good to have new music out, good to be touring behind that music. So this is our first time in St. Kitts since the release of the new album and we are looking forward to playing some of those songs for the people.”

Morgan Heritage is known for hits like ‘Hail Rastafari’, ‘Down By the River’, ‘Don’t Haffi Dread’ and ‘Faithful’.

Meanwhile, Carlene Davis expressed delight to participate in the Federation Independence Anniversary celebrations when asked what the public can expect.

“I’m so excited to be back in the beautiful island of St. Kitts. I’m really looking forward to getting on that platform and give God thanks for having brought St. Kitts-Nevis 30 years of Independence and just songs of hope and encouragement for what’s ahead. And so we want everybody to come out and just come with a heart to celebrate and glorify God, ’cause that’s what we do.”

She is the artiste behind popular songs such as ‘This Island Needs Jesus’, ‘Stealing Love on the Side’ and ‘It Must Be Love and ‘Ambassador For Christ’.

Notably, Davis was one of the back-up singers for the late legendary Reggae icon Bob Marley, along with his widow Rita Marley and Judy Mowatt. The trio was known as the I-Threes.

Meanwhile, another headliner, Jah Cure, arrived on the island on Sunday (Sept. 15).

He spoke enthusiastically about what his fans and music lovers could expect from him during an exclusive interview with this media house.

“It's great to be back in a special place like St. Kitts, and the fans can expect nothing but good Reggae music. I'm always trying to make sure that I project my best for the people of St. Kitts and anywhere in the world. My job is to do my best every time and (we are here) for my St. Kitts people and all my fans here.”

He gave the assurance that he would deliver his best songs to the best of his ability.

“I’m just here to do my best, so everybody could enjoy themselves because, you know Jah Cure don't sing anything but positive, good heartfelt music. So I'm just gonna deliver my best songs to the best of my ability so that everybody could enjoy and talk about my show after. So, that's my mission (that) everybody gets the message and enjoys the show.”

Jah Cure is best known for his hit songs such as ‘Unconditional Love’, ‘Never Find’ and ‘Longing For’ as well as most recent jams like ‘Stronger’,  ‘That Girl’ and ‘My Hands’.

Other performers scheduled for tonight are Tehillah Gospel Band from St. Kitts, which replaces the Majestic Gospel Band, as well as local bands Nu Vybes Band (De Sugar Band), Small Axe and a guest performance by a Mexican Band called Los Pachamama.
