Hot Rod explains his ‘Wuk in Tung’ song

Hot Rod

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE ‘Turkey Killer’, also known as ‘Hot Rod’, has already raised the interest of his fans with his first release for the 2013/2014 Carnival Season dubbed ‘Wuk in Tung’.

Released within the past week, ‘Wuk in Tung’ has already reached the ears of many calypso fans and has engendered an eager anticipation of his next release.

Speaking with SKNVibes, the artiste – born Jamal Butler, a resident of Sandy Point - explained the intricacies of his song and indicated that it has dual meaning.

“The song means that most people have a job in town and most people who have that job are those who have jobs to fix pipes. They are plumbers, people who are good in plumbing.”

Over the years the Turkey Killer’s songs – which include ‘Turkey Killer’, ‘Peep-Peep’, ‘Pork for Dinner’ and ‘Pung d’ Ginger’ - have all had some sort of sexual connotation and, according to what he explained, this one is no different.

“It speaks about a job in Basseterre but it has to do with the tongue in your head. It has to do with something that ladies like a lot…They like when they get the tongue lashings. I give it to them when they ask for it. When they want to learn the demonstration, I teach them so they can teach their lover, because some of them say they want all of that when it comes to their loving style.

“The song is about plumbers for the ladies because some ladies always have a problem with their water pipe in their backyard, and they are always looking for a plumber to come and seal it.”

Hot Rod has a name for each tongue movement, which he has mastered. They are the windshield wiper, the crowbar, the vibrator, the plunger, the vacuum, the chisel, the weed eater, the silent helicopter, the backhoe and the shovel.

And those who are excited for demonstrations of these tongue acrobatics, Hot Rod advised that they should ensure they are in attendance at the calypso tents when they commence early next month.

Making contributions to the calypso arena in St. Kitts since 2005, Hot Rod said he would be releasing another song in a short while and, without letting the cat out of the bag, he indicated that “just like I mashed up the turkey, this is about something else I am mashing up”.

The creative artiste was absent from the calypso and soca competitions last year but says he is back, ready for action and is confident of success. He also indicated that he is going to step up his competitiveness by participating in this year’s Road March Competition.
