BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A lump sum cash prize and a music video deal awaits the contestant who comes out on top in the first ever ZIZ LIME Kittitian SuperStar Teen Finale slated for 8:00 p.m. tomorrow (Nov.16) at Carnival Village.

The six competitors are 18-year-old Zarena Frances, 18-year-old Kyana Hobson, 16-year-old Maya Jacobs, 16-year-old Brian Brookes, 17-year-old Shyan Liburd and 13-year-old Lufkin Foster.

Creator of the Kittitian SuperStar (KSS) brand and popular radio personality, St. Claire 'Chico' Guishard informed SKNVibes that "plans are going very well”.

According to Guishard, "persons attending can expect a great show".

He shared that the contestants would be singing in two rounds; the first being without music and the second with musical accompaniment.

The two runners- up in the competition will also pocket cash prizes and other gifts expected to be distributed following the contest, which include BlackBerry mobile handset and other handset as well as one year free Internet service, compliments title sponsor LIME.

SKNVibes understands that the other prizes are being finalised and overall, the contestants could expect “some wonderful prizes”.

Guishard said the contestants have been busy doing promotional videos, adding that an appearance on The People's Show on ZIZ TV last Wednesday (Nov. 6) was in an effort to promote the event.

Asked his opinion on the talent possessed by the teens, Guishard said: “I am very much impressed with the level of talent we have in the competition. I get goose bumps every time I listen to the contestants because I can't believe that this is the talent we have hidden from the public."

He pointed out that a trophy would be presented to the school that the winner attends.

He also provided details on how the winning trophy would rotate annually and how the high schools would be able to take permanent possession of it.

“The trophy will be rotated every year, depending on who wins the competition. And if one school wins in three consecutive years, they will keep the trophy. In the finals we have contestants from three of the high schools in St. Kitts. Zarena Frances, Kyana Hobson, Maya Jacobs currently attend the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College but Washington Archibald High was the last high school they attended along with Brian Brookes and Shyan Liburd who both last attended the Basseterre High School. So they will be 'repping' that school, and Lufkin Foster attends the Verchilds High School."

He went on to highlight that videos of the teens' past performances leading up to this grand finale could be found on the Facebook fan page - ‘The Jump Off’.

Guishard disclosed that those videos have been receiving a lot of views and one contestant has thousands, which is the most for this season's competition.

"The have been getting crazy views, so much so that one of the contestants was able to attract over 8 000 views on that page, the most views for the 2013 KSST season."

Commenting on what moved him to promote a show specifically for teenagers, he indicated that it was organised based on the demand from that group of youngsters.

"I was inspired to do a show for teenagers because they were getting jealous of seeing the Kittitian SuperStar Juniors perform on TV and insisted I do one for them. So I started thinking and arrived at a thought that it would be a great idea to get the high schools involved in something like this and present a trophy to the school of the winning contestant."

Side show performers will include Nicha B, who is expected to belt out his fresh song for Sugar Mas; Silky and Hailie J; Nickhail; Hot Rod; Keith Pollock; and Minister LK.

Tickets are available from the contestants, Triumph Beauty Store upstairs the Pelican Mall and Mick Stokes' Jewelry Store on Fort Street.

Tickets cost $20 and children under 12 will have to pay $10 at the gate.

Sponsors of the event are: LIME, TDC, St. Kitts Bottling Company Ltd., Life Fitness Center, Dominoes, Bob and Elvis Party Bus, St. Kitts Marine Works and Mary Belle.
