Football Stadium to get facelift

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - WITH work on the Cricket Stadium at Warner Park moving apace, the Ministry of Sports has announced that plans are afoot to upgrade the football portion of the facility.

Speaking exclusively with SKNVibes, Senior Sports Officer in the Ministry of Sports, Vernon Springer stated that that side of the facility would also undergo a facelift, which has already started with the resurfacing of the playing area.

“We are also going to upgrade the football facility. We have already upgraded the field segment and we are also going to elevate the fence. In January we may be looking to upgrade the VIP box area and take it to another level.

“I can assure the SKNFA that come January morning when we hand them back the venue they would have a really wonderful square that they can play on with a time table with a maintenance schedule.

“So Myron Walters, who have been assigned, will be able to say to us when it will be ready to do some work on it. We are going to ensure we have a maintenance schedule in place for both sides of Warner Park and some of the other grounds we are responsible for.”

Springer informed that the government of St. Kitts and Nevis would also be upgrading the other facilities around the island for which it is responsible.

“There is going to be the upgrading of lights at some of the facilities around the island. There are a number of grounds we have identified to see if we can upgrade. Everything is in stages.

“We also want to improve on the premier division grounds so no matter where the games are played the turf itself is as good as in the Park.”
