Nu Vybes hard at work for Sugar Mas 42

By: Jenise Ferlance-Isaac, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Nu Vybes Band International (Sugar Band) is working hard with its preparation for the 2013-2014 National Carnival also known as Sugar Mas 42.

Speaking with the lead singer, Gregory 'Mention' Hobson told this publication that the band is currently in the process of recording its upcoming album.

"Preparations are coming along...as usual it's a lot of hard work but everything is positive," he said.

Unlike last year with a very late album release, Hobson said that although the band could not give an exact date for release, the members do intend to have the album 'dropped' in early December.

Hobson indicated that the band, as they always do, would be contesting this year's Road March.

He stated that the band did a number of travelling throughout the year to neighbouring islands, including Tortola, St. Martin and Anguilla for their festivals, but it did not travel to the United States.

He also stated that the band produced a number of rhythms throughout the year but did not release any.

He indicated that the band has plans to travel to Anguilla and Tortola again sometime next month (December).

Hobson said that the band anticipates high expectations for the Sugar Heads [fans] and that it is working hard to put together a diverse album that the fans would love.

"The expectations should be high; we are really working on it hard. We know what the fans are looking for and we are really trying to solidify that this year and we have a backup. That's the most important thing.

"A lot of people only think about the Road March but you have to be able to strive off of the other parts of the album. We are trying to make the album dimensional," he explained.
