BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AUCKLAND HECTOR of St. Kitts and Nevis has been charged to lead the affairs of the Leeward Islands Cricket Association (LICA) for the next two following that organisation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday (Dec. 14).

Hector, a former Leeward and Combine Islands wicketkeeper, was elected as LICA’s President and former umpire Ralph Hodge of Anguilla as Vice President.

A release from the LICA stated that Hector declared that his Board would not be a one-man Board but rather “one that seeks to involve all”.

It also stated that he would be focusing on the need to plan well in advance for the various tournaments that LICA has to either undertake or provide teams.

Hector also highlighted the urgent need to attract sponsorship in order to allow LICA to have the ability to conduct its various programmes.

The newly-elected President thanked the members for their overwhelming support and  paid homage to his predecessor.

The immediate past president, Gregory Shillingford, did not contest for the post.

The Board also thanked Shillingford for his contributions to Leeward Islands’ cricket over the years and wished him well in his future endeavors.

Hector is also the current President of the St. Kitts Cricket Association and is now expected to serve as a West Indies Cricket Board Director being LICA’s President.

Efforts to contact Hector for a comment were unsuccessful.
