BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A blend of music, dancing and alcohol were some of the key components of the second island-wide Bar Crawl organised yesterday (Jan. 4) by the Carnival Committee which attracted hundreds of individuals from St. Kitts and Nevis.

After a successful showing in the inaugural Bar Crawl on December 14, 2013, a second one during this Carnival season was requested by patrons who thoroughly enjoyed the debut of the event.

Starting off at Port Zante with six taxi trucks, a coaster, a Hi-Fi system and about one dozen individuals on bicycles, the procession headed east towards Cayon where they were expected to meet the Small Axe Band outside of Maynard's Park.

Upon arrival in Cayon, the revellers and residents of that community danced to the sweet music of the recently-crowned Sugar Mas’ 42 Road March Champions who belted out many of their hits for some 30 minutes.

While picking up a few more patrons from the Cayon Community and some on motorbikes, the procession then made its way to Molineux where a short jam session was held in the vicinity of Fraites & Sons Supermarket.

After leaving the Molineux community the procession was joined by a second Hi-FI system as they crawled their way into Christchurch and Mansion where another bar stop was made.

Bar stops were also made in the Saddlers and St. Paul’s communities where it was observed that the event had swollen to hundreds, even with additional cyclists joining the action.

The bar crawlers met Tombstone International in Sandy Point where a 30-minute session ensued with those in the Bar Crawl showing no sign of fatigue despite some partying since the event commenced.

The Old Road community was the next one that was rocked by the bar crawl with DJ Cool providing the music before heading full speed towards Basseterre.

In the vicinity of Joseph N France General Hospital in Basseterre, the Bar Crawl was transformed into a street jam with patrons ‘jamming’ to the next stop at Tony’s Liquor Centre on Wigley Avenue, where the Grand Masters Band moved the revellers who displayed unimaginable energy despite the fact that they were partying for more than 10 hours.

Following the session at Wigley Avenue, the Bar Crawl then made its way to its final stop at the Sugar Mas’ Village where the revellers met the Nu Vybes Band International that rocked them until sometime after 11:00 p.m. to bring the event to an end.

One of the highlights of the event was the cyclists who were a part of the procession from the beginning to the end.

Many patrons lauded Chairman Sylvester Anthony and the Carnival Committee for implementing such an initiative, especially since it brought a Carnival activity to those residing in the rural areas.
