International Night cancelled

National Carnival Committee’s Chairman Sylvester Anthony

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IT seems like the International Night for Sugar Mas’ 42 will not get underway as planned although a number of venues were earmarked to host the signature event, which had to be postponed last month due to the inclement weather.

In a previous interview with Chairman of the National Carnival Committee, Sylvester Anthony, he disclosed that the group was currently in talks about having a held-over concert on January 18, but it would depend on a new venue in order to avoid another disappointment.

“The 18th is not confirmed as yet. We are hoping to have the concert on that date because all of the artistes have agreed to come back on that date and do another show. But, like I said, it will all depend on the venue”, Anthony said.

However, an official from the group told SKNVibes Entertainment that the concert would be cancelled due to the fact that the Carnival Committee was unable to locate an enclosed venue to host the event with the expected thousands.

“We seriously do not want to risk another cancellation of this event due to the weather period we might be experiencing during January and February”, the official said.

It was also said that another concert might be underway in March with some of the artistes, but this is yet to be confirmed.

The official disclosed that the press would be briefed on an official announcement of the cancellation in a few days time.
