BASSETERRE St. Kitts, January 17th, 2014 -- The SKNABA Executive has announced its intentions to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Introduction of the sport to the federation. In a recent SKNABA General Meeting President Kenroy Tobias announced to the membership that 2014 will mark 50 years since Basketball was introduced to the federation and that his executive will be pursuing a number of activities to mark the significant milestone.
According to General Sec retary Wallis Wilkin a 50th Anniversary Organising Committee will be put in place to conceive and implement ideas and activities for the Anniversary Celebrations.
“The Committee will develop a programme of activities and they will have the mandate of the Executive to implement said activities,” said Wallis Wilkin.
“The Executive’s only request is that the production and publication of a 50th Anniversary Commemorative Magazine and the re-establishment of the LIBA Leeward Islands Basketball Association be considered for part of the Anniversary programmes or activities of the soon to be established committee,” Wilkin continued
Basketball was introduced to St.Kitts-Nevis in 1964 by Stanley Sebastian.
