Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, February 3rd, 2014  --  A Quickbooks Training Seminar marks the completion of planned training sessions for this cycle of the Junior Achievement Company Programme. The 2013-2014 training roster has included; a general orientation to the JA Company Programme, Business Planning, Business Innovation, Marketing, Record Keeping, and Financial Reporting Seminars.

Mrs Carol Boddie, Treasurer of the St Kitts &Nevis Chamber of Industry & Commerce, and Principal of CIB Accounting & Consultancy Services Inc., The Sands Complex thoroughly explored the capabilities of the Quickbooks suite of software, sharing practical examples, navigation tips and general accounting principles and standards. Her wealth of experience and knowledge kept teachers and students engaged in the exercise and expanded their scope of understanding in Financial Management practices.

The Basseterre High, Washington Archibald High, Verchilds High, Charles E Mills Secondary, Saddlers Secondary, and Cayon High and Charlestown Secondary Schools along with AVEC and Project Strong are all participating this year. Each JA Company cycle runs in unison with the school year.

This cycle of the JA Company Programme is the 10th, having been previously managed by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank and then the St Kitts & Nevis Chamber of Industry & Commerce. However, this is the first time that Accounting Software has been introduced and used by the participants as a way of introducing software actually used in the business setting, and as an aid in reporting the financial position of their businesses.

Junior Achievement St Kitts & Nevis now operates independently as a not for profit Non-Government Organization through donations, grants and sponsorships. The Organization would like thank the sponsors of the event; Farrell Products & Services, CIB Accounting & Consultancy Services, the St Kitts-Nevis Chamber of Industry & Commerce and its major donors and sponsors, USAID, the Christophe Harbor Foundation, CIBC First Caribbean International Bank, and the Bank of Nova Scotia, whose general funding allows the Junior Achievement Programmes to be executed.
