BASSETERRE, St. KITTS - THE Federation’s first ever Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) professional fighter and Heavyweight title holder of the Caribbean Kickboxing Grappling Shou Federation’s (CKGSF) Caribbean MMA Championship, Tija Stanley, is expected to have a busy next few months.

Speaking with SKNVibes Sports, Stanley said that during the coming months he is expecting to participate in three fights including one to defend his Caribbean Kickboxing title.

“This year I have about three fights coming up I have the World Championships down in Curacoa coming up. I have to defend my title in May and I also have a fight coming up in March.”

He also commented on his preparation for those fights.

“My preparation is going great. I have to take a 20-pound cut for the next two and a half months and be ready for whatever stands in my way.”

Stanley was recently the special guest referee for a Iron Fist Tournament that was held here in St. Kitts and gave his comments about how the sport is developing in the Federation.

“I think a lot of the fighters were excited, they were a little bit anxious and zealous, but if they really get in the training they start honing their skills, they will start to come through and make a good show. Right now everybody is raw so you will see a lot of not nonprofessional things.”

He also stated that the sport is growing and is willing to assist in further development.

“This event alone shows improvement, it shows the country in moving up and I am here to help out with the sport.”
