Kartel’s verdict delayed by ill juror

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IT seems like dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel will have to wait a little longer before finding out what his fate is because one of the jurors involved in the murder trial - in which he is  a co-accused - has fallen ill.

As previously reported, the final arguments from defense attorney Tamika Harris paved the way for Justice Lennox Campbell to summarise all of the evidence for the jurors and inform them as to how the law should be applied to it in coming to their decision.

This process was expected to start by this week when the matter resumes in the Home Circuit Court.

However, a previous report from the Jamaica Observer stated that there will be no verdict this week in the Vybz Kartel murder trial underway in the Home Circuit court downtown Kingston until next week.

The Observer also reported that Justice Lennox Campbell had hoped his summation of the evidence could have commenced on Friday (Feb 28), but that was not possible because a member of the 11-panel jury would not be available until Thursday.

“But the Forewoman Wednesday afternoon informed the court that another member of the panel is scheduled to do surgery and would not be available. The juror said that she would be available next week Thursday, when the judge will then begin his summation” it was reported.

Vybz Kartel, Shawn Campbell, Shane Williams and Kahira Jones and Andre St. John are on trial for the August 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, believed to have been committed at Kartel’s Havendale, St Andrew house.
