Three customers awarded as National Bank implements international standards

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THREE customers of the St Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank were yesterday (Mar. 19) announced winners in a promotion that the financial institution undertook in launching its Customer Information Update Project (CIUP), geared at bringing the bank up to date with international standards.

At a simple ceremony held at the Bank’s Head Office at Central Street, Basseterre, Senior Manager Private Banking, Diana Williams-Humphrey explained the reasoning behind the drive of awarding prizes to two of the three winners who were present at the event.

“Over the years, the enactment of local and international acts and regulations has forced banks around the world, including National, to obtain and maintain certain records of information about their customers.”

Williams-Humphrey disclosed that these regulations are not immune to National Bank, which has to comply; and as such they undertook a drive to update their customer records with the requisite information.

“To ensure compliance with these regulations, the St Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank Limited embarked on an exercise in December 2013 to update our records. Customers were required to complete a form and forward valid IDs to the bank. In addition, customers were also approached by bank representatives to complete the form when they visited the bank for other business.”

The Senior Manager noted that customers’ response has gone way beyond their expectation, and she used that platform to appeal to all other customers who may not have “completed the form” to go to the nearest National Bank Branch where a representative would assist them in the process.

She explained, too, that the draw and presentation ceremony was for the customers who responded in a timely manner, and that three out of over 300 applicants were selected.

Those who were selected are 11-year-old Shaqueda Pemberton, Diana Pemberton-Levy and Tarin Browne. However, Browne and Pemberton were absent from the afternoon proceedings, but Vernon Elliott collected the prize on behalf of Pemberton.

Pemberton-Levy and the 11-year-old each won themselves a National Bank Master Card Gift Card valued at $250.

Pemberton-Levy, who praised the bank for the services it provides, told SKNVibes Business that she has been with the financial institution for several years and it was the first time she had ever won at any given competition or promotion.
