Heineken launches new glow bottles

The new Heineken glow bottles

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WITH its new glow in the dark aluminum bottles, Heineken, through its distributors, is hoping to captivate the market in St. Kitts and Nevis.

The new venture by Heineken is expected to be adapted by locals since the new bottles would be glowing if one were to place them under dark lighting. This, however, has not changed the taste of the beer.

According to Heineken’s Export Manager for CARICOM, Cordell Wilson, this event showcases two of Heinekens ventures as it associates its brand within the sporting arena. Currently, the Heineken brand is associated with the largest footballing event in the world, the Uefa Champions League, which is Europe’s premier club competition.

“Tonight we are showing two of our new bottles, which are the Champions League bottle which is called the trophy bottles. It has the champions League label on it and that’s what we are going to be doing over the next two months, because Heineken is the sponsor of the UEFA Champions League and we are the number one sponsor…and it’s good to see we are aligned with the Premier footballing event across the world in terms of club football.”

“Then we have our Club bottle. It changes! When you are under black light you will see the bottle change. It is just to showcase what Heineken is all about and what we have to offer,” Wilson added.

The two bottles were officially shown to the public on Saturday (Apr. 5) at a small party organised for special invitees at the Carambola Beach Resort in the South East Peninsula.

“We have the trophy bottle and the club bottle and we are just about having a good time tonight!” Wilson exclaimed.

“This is an event for our guest and showing them what Heineken is all about. Heineken is the number one premium brand across the world and we are available in 198 countries across the world, depending on how you define how many countries around the world. And it’s probably 200-202…so we are everywhere. So tonight we are here in St. Kitts showing people what Heineken is all about,” boasted Wilson.

Wilson told SKNVibes Business that for 2014 the Heineken brand has a lot in store for its dedicated drinkers, but he did not go into details to spill the surprise.

“We just recently changed our distributors in St. Kitts in 2012. So, this year, we would be doing some really big things with Heineken and this is just the start of a big programme for this year,” he said.

The Heineken brand continues its partnership with Carib to distribute the beer on the local market, as it continues to grab its fair share of the small market populace.

“We have got an agreement with Carib and in St. Kitts we are just bringing the benefits…and the partnership is working well so far. In terms of the market share, Heineken is holding its own. We have some opportunities to grow in the premium segment and really show people what premium is all about. Show them that premium is beer too, and that’s what we are all about this year.”

The Export Manager however declared that there would be a mild difference between Heineken in the aluminum bottles and those in the glass bottles, but the recipe remains the same.
