AJ Brown to headline Ardennes Mother's Day Concert in Toronto

    Toronto, Canada  --  Reggae balladeer AJ Brown, who has been a prominent figure in Jamaica's popular music for the past 30 years will head to Toronto, Canada on Sunday, May 11, 2014 to headline the Ardenne Alumni Association (Toronto Chapter) Annual Mother’s Day Concert & Luncheon.

     

    "The luncheon is our marquee event for the year that provides important funding for the ‘students welfare program’ at Ardenne High School in Jamaica" Mark White, Vice President of the Ardenne Alumni Association disclosed.

    "Over the years these funds have provided valuable contributions to the Joyce Britton Music Room, Global Leaders Program for Students and the Lunch Feeding Assistance. The event also honors the Mother’s in our community and provide stellar entertainment" White said.

    AJ, who recently took over as lead vocalist of acclaimed reggae group Third World, began his career on the north coast of Jamaica in the 70s. He was then recruited by the Jamaican Tourist Board to promote the island in North America and Europe. His notoriety spread and by the early 80s he was recognised as Jamaica’s leading cabaret singer. 

    In 1984, he released his debut single "Love People," that was featured on the soundtrack of the movie Club Paradise. His vocals were also featured in "The Howling III" and "The Fourth Protocol." Brown was also a regular performer in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA and has released popular songs like ‘We Need To Learn’, ‘Beautiful Lady’ and ‘Words Of Wisdom’.
