Black San 2014 kicks off with a Bang!

By: Entertainment Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE fourth annual Black San ‘Bangalang’ celebrations kicked off with a ‘bang’ yesterday (Apr. 12) in Sandy Point as hundreds of farmers and other celebrants dressed in their farm attire paraded through the town.

According to an official from the Sandy Point SPIRIT Committee, the parade called ‘Tractorcade’ is done annually to celebrate farmers and to highlight the importance of growing organic food in the Federation.

The official also told SKNVibes Entertainment that the parade serves as a means of bringing the community together while at the same time promoting community service and involvement.

Off to a late start yesterday, the parade began at Romney Ground with four tractors, two which displayed a few vegetables grown in Sandy Point, while another from the TDC Company exhibited various farm tools.

The other tractor electrified the streets of Sandy Point with hype and energetic music from R&R Sounds. From the starting point, it was visible that not many people were in the Tractorcade.

But, as the parade proceeded through the town, onlookers and patrons, especially those bedecked in their farm attire, joined the parade and within an hour, the dozens patrons quickly became hundreds.

The parade was also graced with the presence of the six beauties who will be vying for the title of Lime Miss Black San Swimsuit Pageant 2014 next Sunday.

The crowd continuously grew to an enormous capacity, leaving officers from the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force diverting traffic as to allow patrons and revellers to move freely throughout the town.

The parade, which started in the afternoon, concluded at Fig Tree in the night where everyone gathered for the official opening of Black San ‘Bangalang’ 2014.
