BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - HUNDREDS of Sandy Pointers and visitors to that community partied on Saturday night (Apr. 19) until dawn to a number of local artistes, bands and Hi-Fi systems at the Sandy Point Hard Court.

The event was the much-anticipated SKNVibes Appleton Knockshore Night which was hosted by SPIRIT for that community group’s annual Black San’ Bang-A-Lang.

The night started with DJ Flames rocking the then small crowd and was followed by the Kollision Band, which set the tone with an electrifying performance to introduce one of the Federation’s revered artistes, Infamus.

The young artiste took to the stage and moved the crowd with the many hits that have seen his rise to local stardom.

It was then Imark’s turn onstage and he did not disappoint the crowd, which had significantly grown, with an energetic performance that had set the tone for the ‘Sweetest Band in the World’.

Members of the ‘Sweetest Band in the World, Small Axe, lived up to the name they have acclaimed as they entered the stage with high energy chanting their new hit ‘Money’, while calling on the crowd to snap their fingers as a gesture to demand money from their bosses.

The band’s members kept up the energy level throughout their more than one hour performance with songs that included their Road March hit ‘Hardware’, ‘Boots’, Fantatic Thunder’s ‘Round Up’ and Mr. Hype’s ‘Wuk It’.

The featured segment of the night however was the Magnum DJ Sound Clash which saw DJs from four sounds competing for supremacy.

They were defending champions Extacy Sounds, Real Sounds, Chronical Leverage and Die Hard Sounds, and the special guest judges were Wardadli Souljahs out of Antigua.

The DJs participated in three rounds. The first being Old School Dancehall followed by Reggae and the top two competed in an anything goes third round.

With an unmatched chemistry between selector and MC, Extacy Sounds topped the points standing in the first two rounds and was followed by Chronical Leverage.

In the anything goes round the DJs battled tune for tune and the crowd was the judge of the DJ that played the better tunes. Also, the first DJ to six wins would walk away with the title.

Winning the coin toss and asking to go second onstage, Chronical Leverage took an unassailable 5-0 lead on the defending champions. But a dramatic comeback by Extacy Sounds tied the battle at 5-5 with one final match-up to decided it all.

Extacy however rode their momentum and walked away with the title for the second consecutive year.

The crowd also enjoyed some juggling from the special guest judges before the Nu Vybes Band International brought in the sunrise and the event to a close.
