BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LOUD uncontrollable laughter and the sight of joy filled the Sandy Point Hard Court last night (Apr 23) as popular Trinidadian comedian Errol Fabian gave his listeners a few pointers on marriage and relationships.
Fabian is known for his theatrical performances in Monster March, Seasons, Beef no Chicken, The Fantastic’s, Ti Jean and Mariquite, Smile Orange, Adult Suffrage, School’s Out and Accidental Death of an Anarchist, just to name a few.
In 1978, Fabien joined the West Indian Theatre Company and was introduced to the world of comedy. He remained with the West Indian Theatre Company until 1982 when he began freelancing as an actor.
In the comedian’s hilarious onstage performance last night at the Black San LOL Night of Comedy and Drama, Fabian spoke extensively on men cheating, calling it “an accident” males make from time to time.
Of course the women in the audience disagreed with him on his interpretation, but Fabian told the story of a Chinese man whom he gave a box of condoms to because of his “ability to multiply”.
“I went to the man and I said, ‘Chin, how you making so many children man?’ And he replied to me that he likes to do it. So I gave him the box of condoms and told him to use it because the man had nine children and his wife had another one on the way.”
The comedian said that when he returned a couple months later to check up on Chin, he was astonished that his wife was pregnant again with child number 11.
“I call out for him. I said, ‘Chin, why you wife pregnant again?’ And he turned to me and said, ‘I don’t know what happen…I put it on and it was too long so I cut off piece to make it fit,” Fabian told the heartily laughing crowd.
Fabian also told his audience about an experience he had with a woman he met in Trinidad who he accidently slept with. “After we left the club I took her home and she turned to me and asked me if I was not coming upstairs. Men, if a woman tells you that take it as a threat! So I went upstairs and I had five hours of excitement,” Fabian said.
He added that prior to his accident, he was known to his wife as a man who lasted for only five minutes during sex but he couldn’t lie the next day when he returned home.
“I came home the next morning and I said to my wife, ‘Good morning baby.’ And she looked at me and said, ‘Don’t good morning baby me. Where were you?’ So I told her I was out and I met a woman. We went to club, I went home at her and we had sex for five hours and when I woke up I came home.”
He then said that his wife began to laugh and belted out that he was lying, claiming that she knew he was playing dominos with his friends the entire night. “Fellas, women can’t handle the truth,” Fabian said.
After his act had concluded, the crowd of hundreds then begged the MC to have Fabian to return on stage to give one more of his jokes. He did return and gave his audience 15 minutes more of his comedies.
