LIME donates agri equipment Verchild’s High School

By: Business Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LIME continued its corporate responsibility this morning (Apr. 24) when the telecommunications provider handed over a set of farming equipment to the Agriculture Department of Verchild’s High School in the presence of students and teachers.

This timely donation comes after the school’s Agriculture Department and green houses were vandalised and lots of equipment were damaged.

LIME’s Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager Kevin Edwards explained that the company was first to respond to the school’s needs after seeing reports of the vandalism circulating in the media.

“On hearing about the incident that occurred at the school with their green house being vandalised and lots of their equipment being damaged, we reached to the school and inquired how best LIME can assist them in not only getting the programme back up and running but actually making it better.”

He added that representatives from the telecommunications giant had visited the school on a number of occasions to discuss what was best needed and to put its Agriculture Department back on stream.

“We reviewed the site and even though they were getting some support from the Agriculture Department, they said this is what is needed to make the programme work and we whole heartedly jumped in and say we will get you what you need.

According to Edwards, this is not the end of LIME’s support, noting that the company would find new and more innovative ways to "invest in agriculture in the Federation”.

“For us, we see this as our first step into that area by assisting the school. And of we have the Agriculture Open Day which Lime has always been a part of, and we would be looking at more ways to expand and assist in programmes such as this, not only here but also in Nevis as well,” he explained

Edwards told SKNVibes Business that the sky is the limit for the telephone company and that it would be making similar donations to institutions and agriculture cooperatives in St. Kitts.

Representatives from the school who were on hand thanked LIME’s executives for the donation, which would not only assist the school but also the students preparing for the Caribbean Examination Council examinations.
