Wednesday May 21, 2014 – A request from a Sergeant of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force led to NAGICO Insurances donating a new four burner stove to the Virgin Gorda Senior's Home on Wednesday, May 14.
Loraine Williams Division Head Manager at the Social Development Department and Alicia Harrigan-Martin onsite Supervisor at the home accepted the donation from Managing Director, Mr. Shan Mohamed.
Williams thanked NAGICO Insurances for the donation as a very timely intervention since they were preparing to purchase a new stove, but those funds will be diverted to other areas of critical importance.
The Stove will be used to prepare meals and treats for the five residents at the home.
Sergeant 119, Kevin Joseph of the RVIPF Virgin Gorda branch saw the need for the stove after making routine visit to the home and sought to

May is Senior Citizens’ Month in the Virgin Islands and observances are hosted by Social Development Department. This month’s Senior Citizens’ Month is observed under the theme ‘Silver Seniors: Years of Ageing Strong’.
“NAGICO Insurances believes in assisting all residents, including seniors who have built the Virgin Islands into a place that we all can be proud of. We welcome every opportunity to help seniors feel more comfortable in their silver years,” Mr. Mohamed noted.
NAGICO Insurances established a presence in the Virgin Gorda Community when on April 15, 2013, General Agents, Century Insurance, opened an office at the Walts Commercial Centre, The Valley, Virgin Gorda.
Shortly following the opening of the office, NAGICO Insurances held a health fair on Virgin Gorda that benefited dozens who took advantage of free testing and screenings.
