BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE St. Kitts Music Festival Committee has invited over a dozen regional and international acts for this year event, but the question being asked is: “Who are this year’s local acts?”
In response to SKNVibes Entertainment’s conveyance of concerns raised by some potential patrons about local acts’ participation at this year’s event, Saju Ng’alla, a member of the Music Festival’s Executive Committee in-charge of Marketing, said that there would be a number of local artistes performing at the upcoming annual event.
“We have planned to have a special ceremony where we will reveal the local artistes for this year’s Music Festival celebrations sometime in next week. We want to introduce these local artistes with a bang!” Ng’alla said.
He revealed to SKNVibes Entertainment that the ceremony would also see the local artistes signing their contracts with the Committee to perform at the show.
Over the last two months, a number of local artistes were performing for the likes of their audience and to have a shot at the St. Kitts Music Festival slated for June 26-28.
Among those artistes were Trebler and Hi-Light, who were showcased at the re-opening of Club Kactus on Saturday, April 5. And prior to that re-opening, Kactus Entertainment’s CEO Romeo Parris told this publication that he had invited two officials from the Music Festival Committee to the event, with the aim of knowing if the young artistes were Music Festival material.
Parris explained that both artistes were advised to “give it their all” for a shot at the upcoming Festival. And the crowd loved their performances, but it was not confirmed if they had made the final cut.
