Twenty six year old Amethyst Davis has a vision for her life and she endeavors to make that vision tangible. She strongly believes that with hard work, dedication and love, anything is possible.
Amethyst graduated with honours from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Arts in English. At University, Amethyst worked as a college tutor. During her final semester, she also worked as an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) tutor at a middle school where she further embraced her love for teaching and mentoring. Her work with the Big Brother Big Sister Organisation was also a way for Amethyst to develop and empower young people.
Amethyst is an aspiring poet. In her spare time, she enjoys writing and reciting poetry. She believes that her words are an expression of her soul. Amethyst is proud to be recognized as a local poet at this year's Anguilla Literary Festival.
Upon graduation, she returned home and assumed the position of Graduate Teacher of English at the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School, where her innovative teaching style has made her a favourite with her students. Amethyst stands firmly on her platform of youth development and empowerment and strives to be a role model for the youth in her community.
Presently, Amethyst is pursuing her Masters in English Language at the University of the West Indies.
Her passion, drive and love for teaching give her the confidence to participate in this year's Miss Caribbean Culture Queen Pageant. She hopes to demonstrate to Anguilla's youth that their possibilities are infinite if they embrace their dreams.
