BASSETERRE, St. Kitts –- THE battle continues over the importation of a male enhancement by small business owner Curtis Matthew. This time he is refuting claims made in a recent press release by the Federation’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr. Patrick Martin.

Speaking with SKNVibes Business yesterday (Jun. 18), Matthew described Dr. Martin’s comments as being “extremely late” since he (Matthew) would have done a comprehensive research on the supplements before it was purchased.

“The Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Martin, is extremely late with the information from TGA concerning Chao Jimengnan. After careful research, I made my first order on February 24th 2008 from a company called Herbal Remedies Bermuda Limited.”

In Dr. Martin’s release to the national media, it advised that the product poses “a potentially serious health risk to consumers”. It also pointed to recall information about the product posted on the Australian Government Department of Health, Therapeutic Goods Administration’s (TGA) website, dated March 18, 2011.

Matthew however claimed that after a careful research of the product, he made his first order from a company called Herbal Remedies Bermuda Limited for US$998 and subsequently went on air to advertise it.

“I sponsored a Sunday programme on WINN FM one day after to get the products on the market. And in my research, I google the products, FDA and Chao Jimengnan and I found a website…http://www.fda.gov/newsevents/newsroom/pressannouncement/2007/ucm109049.htm”

He declared that based on his research, the brand that he imported is not being sold on the black market and it was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in China, adding that it does not carry any of the ingredients found in Viagra, including an unapproved substance with a structure similar to Sildenafil that could have serious health problems.

“Even before I ordered the product I had full information about the company. It has also been proven that there are underground companies marketing these same products and this can cause serious illness or even death.”

Matthew showed SKNVibes Business a statement from the manufacture warning individuals to look out for the counterfeit products being put forward by agents with whom the company is not affiliated.
“We are the manufacture of Chao Jimengnan in China; we have not authorized any agent or trading company within China: so be careful with any organization with similar packaging that is not the real Chao Jimengnan.”

According to Matthew there has been no formal communication between himself and the CMO after the situation came to light.

The wheelchair-bound businessman said he is willing to take the matter to Court if any lawyer is willing to represent him in the legal proceedings.

He recommended that Dr. Martin “as the Chief Medical Officer should stop refuting and hampering and start helping”.
