BASSTERRE, St. Kitts – WITH just five days before the start of this year’s Music Festival, SKNVibes took to the streets of downtown Basseterre to find out what patrons plan to wear on the opening night (Thursday), which is dubbed “Jump Up Night”.

Thursday night will be headlined by Soca superstars Machel Monatano, Skinny Fabulous and Destra and is also slated to feature some locally-based Soca acts.

This publication interviewed a number of persons, with the majority being between the ages of 18 and 40, who had contrasting views on the garments they would don on that night.

The first was a male, who stated that he is anxiously awaiting that night to jump up to the tunes of his favourite Soca singer, Machel Montano, and that he would be wearing a T-shirt, jeans and an old pair of sneakers.

Another male said he would be dressing similar to what he normally wears on J’Ouvert Morning but with a little more class.

One model-shaped female stated that her outfit for that evening would include a crop top and shorts with a flat pair of shoes, while her provocative and sexually alluring friend said she has something special for that evening but was coy on providing specifics.

Contrastingly, a beautiful woman in her mid-30s stated that she had already identified a ball nightclub dress she plans to wear and that she is just interested in seeing Machel Montano and would not be dancing too much.

She also disclosed that she would be wearing a pair of heels for that night but warned others who have plans of going to jump up to wear something comfortable.

One bold 22-year-old told SKNVibes that she would wear anything in which she feels she could “Wuk up because that is what the first night is about”.

She also gave some advice as to what women should wear for that night.

“Jumpers, tights, leggings, shorts, T-shirts, tank tops and any flat shoe I believe is what ladies should be wearing on that night.”

What are you going to wear for the Jump Up Night of the St. Kitts Music Festival?
