BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – BRAZIL will meet South American neighbour Chile in the 2014 FIFA World Cup on Saturday (Jun. 28) following their 4-1 thrashing of Cameroon yesterday (Jun. 23) in the final round of matches in Group A.

Neymar's double led the World Cup host 4-1 win over Cameroon to confirm them as Group A winners.

According to Skysports, Neymar’s double now puts him on 35 goals in 52 games for Brazil, with only Pele and Zico having a better goals-per-game average for the South American country.

In the other Group A match, Mexico joined Brazil in the first knockout round with a 3-1 victory over Croatia after displaying a very commanding performance

Skysports reported that three goals in 11 second-half minutes from Rafael Marquez, Andres Guardado and substitute Javier Hernandez ensured that Mexico finished second in the group and would face Netherlands.

The Netherlands secured top place in Group B following a 2-nil victory over Chile.

Skysports reported that substitutes Leroy Fer and Memphis Depay found the net in a 2-nil win over Chile despite the South Americans dominance in the first half at Sao Paulo’s Arena Corinthians to set up a clash with Group A Runners-up Mexico.

Defending champions Spain secured their first win of the 2014 FIFA World Cup after easing to a comfortable 3-nil victory over Australia.

David Villa, Fernando Torres and Juan Mata were all on the score sheet and ensured a third-place finish for Spain in Group B, while the Socceroos finish at the bottom with zero point.

Today will see the culmination of Groups C and D with Costa Rica doing battle against England and Italy going up against Uruguay for the second place in group C.

In Group D, Greece will play Ivory Cost and Japan will take on Columbia.
