BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A number of individuals were apprehended and questioned today in connection with a daring daylight bank robbery on Nevis that took place yesterday (June 23).
This publication had received initial reports which suggested that at about 11:00 a.m. yesterday a number of masked, gun-toting bandits had entered the Nevis branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia in Charlestown and executed a robbery.
Further reports suggested that five individuals had pulled off the heist.
SKNVibes understands that one of the bandits had pointed a firearm at the security personnel whilst the others scaled the bank’s counter and demanded money from the employees.
The bandits were successful in leaving the bank with a sum of money and, although that figure was not disclosed, this media house understands that it is in more than one currency.
This media house also learnt that the vehicle used to transport the robbers to and from the bank was stolen.
According to informed sources, the vehicle has since been recovered by the authorities and investigations into the incident are being made.
As part of these investigations - according to Deputy Commissioner of Police Stafford Liburd - a number of individuals were questioned today by police officers on Nevis.
“I know that earlier today the Nevis police were questioning persons related to the incident. I do not know how far they have gotten,” DCP Liburd said.
