BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TODAY (June 26), the first of three Press Conferences that confirm the acts for each night of the St. Kitts Music Festival was held at the St. Kitts Marriott Hotel, and the fans of Machel Mantano and Skinny Fabulous should have no fear because they will be performing tonight at the Warner Park Football Stadium.

Present at the press conference were Trinidad calypsonian Explainer, Meringue singer Elvis Crespo, Patrice Roberts from the HD Band, Destra Garcia, Mr. World from the Small Axe Band,  and Meko as well as Delly Ranks out of Nevis.

Although Skinny Fabulous and Machel Montano were not present at the conference, a representative of the Soca king explained that he is currently in Miami and should be expected to arrive later in the day.

It was also confirmed that Skinny Fabulous would be arriving later for the show.

Minister of Tourism Hon. Richard Skerritt declared the Festival open and stated that it is a pleasure every year for him and his Ministry to be associated with the mega concert.

He told the gathering of artistes and media personnel that since 2005 when he participated in the first Festival as the Minister with responsibility for the annual event, the media’s interest and participation has increased significantly with both local and regional media houses being present.

“I can’t help but notice how much the local media sector has grown. My first Music Festival as Minister was in 2005. There were hardly any local media, and now that component and the interest in the Festival have grown.”

Skerrit further noted that there are dozens of regional media operatives who requested permission to access coverage of the Festival, but because of various limitations not all were granted permission.

“I can tell you those who are here are the best of the best,” he added.

However, when asked about the rumour of two artistes no longer coming to perform, Minister Skerritt put it to rest by informing that all acts slated to perform at the Music Festival have confirmed their participation.

“There is no need for a rumour, everybody is coming. In the 10 years that I have had the privilege and honour to be the Minister responsible for this event, the only person who didn’t carry out their act, did so for very good reasons last year and she is fulfilling her obligation.”
