BASSETERRE, St. Kitts –- WITH the Music Festival set to kick into gear tonight (Jun. 26), one of the events on the calendar of activities is the inaugural Sunfest, which was officially launched this morning (Jun. 26) in Independence Square.

The event, which is organised by GMS and endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, will run for the duration of Music Festival.

Minister with responsibility for Culture the Hon. Marcella Liburd stated her Ministry’s pleasure to be associated with the event.

“I want to really commend the young people and the brainwave behind this, because, as Dr. Alexander said, Music Festival is Music Festival but you need an experience, and so you would need persons or groups like GMS to come up with brilliant ideas like this one.”

“Here is the place to be for the next three days where you would be exposed to added value to Music festival,” the Minister explained.

Also addressing those present at the launch was Dr. Garfield Alexander of Sunfest, who explained that the group, formed in 2010, has budding talent of entrepreneurs who has worked overtime to have the activity on today.

“I represent GMS today; a group of young aspiring entrepreneur. And this for us is our greatest brainchild! And without the support that we have been getting from the business community, it would not be possible.”

He stated that the concept of the Music Festival activity is to provide a great experience for visitors and locals, giving them added value for their money.

“The reason why we came up with Sunfest is basically to add value and more substance to the Music Festival experience. Not to the Music Festival but to the experience.”

Over the next three days individuals visiting Independence Park could enjoy the sounds of local artistes performing and children can enjoy bouncy castles and other attractions.
