Romain Virgo arrives for White Sands Vegas Edition

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JAMAICAN singing sensation Romain Virgo last evening (Jun. 28) touched down at the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw International Airport and promised an unforgettable performance at this year’s White Sands event.

     

    In a brief exclusive interview with the 24-year-old Virgo, who hails from St. Ann’s Parish, Jamaica, he told SKNVibes Entertainment that his musical career has its genesis whilst as a teenager when he became the youngest person to win a Jamaican singing competition. 

    “I was 17 years old when I won the Digicel Rising Star Competition, and since then I’ve been all over the world performing with a number of artiste from Jamaica. I did a lot of travelling to Europe, North America and the Caribbean,” Virgo said. 

    Virgo is encouraging entertainment lovers in the twin-island Federation to come out today at the Carambola Beach Bar for the White Sands – Vegas Edition, and is promising an unforgettable and exceptional performance.

    Winning the Digicel Rising Star Competition, Virgo was awarded a cash prize of JA$1M and a recording contract with Greensleeve Records. And just a few weeks after that competition, Hemet Donovan Germain who produced his first hit record ‘Mi Caan Sleep’ on the Penthouse label.

    Several hit singles followed that one, including ‘Wanna Go Home, Live Mi Life’, and ‘Alton's Medley’. And in June 2010 VP Records released his debut album, self-titled Romain Virgo. 

    Virgo is currently pursuing his Bachelor's degree at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston, with Voice as his major and Keyboard his minor.

    He will be performing today at the White Sands event at Carambola Beach Bar in the South East Peninsula along with Kevy Kev out of Florida, the Kore Band featuring Gharlic and Delly Ranks, and Nuphoric of Trinidad. 

    The event, which is the official ‘Cool Down Party’ of the St. Kitts Music Festival, is providing free admittance to all those dressed in white, while those without will have to pay $10 at the door.
