Jamaican sensation Romain Virgo

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FROM the ambience of the VIP booth to the white sands of Carambola Beach, thousands of patrons dressed in a sea of white were consciously entertained by young Jamaican sensation Romain Virgo.

On arrival at the Carambola Beach Bar in the Southeast Peninsula, hundreds of patrons quickly filled the bars and lobby of the facility which, within an hour, had a capacity crowd, leaving many moving to the beach while being entertained by DJ Kevy Kev.

In the VIP booth, guests were served with an exquisite dish in addition to an assortment of fine wine and top-shelf drinks, including the choice of juices or non-alcoholic beverages. The VIP patrons were also treated to a signature glass and bead necklaces.

The White Sands event, which kicked off around 2:00 p.m., had packed entertainment and performances by the Kore Band featuring Gharlic, Florida-based Kittitian DJ Kevy Kev and Nuphoric Vibes out of Trinidad and Tobago, all of whom kept the crowd on their feet with various genres of music.

During his 45-minute performance, Virgo kept the crowd entertained with a medley that included ‘I am rich in Love’, ‘Don’t you Remember’, ‘Me caan Sleep’, ‘Love Doctor’ and ‘No Money’, which were all power moments in his act.

But it was the ladies who surprised even Virgo with the love they showered upon him. Seemingly, this gesture prompted him to continue performing although his time onstage was supposed to have ended.

At one point during his performance, Virgo sang to a young lady who was at the front of the stage requesting his number and expressing her love for him.

After leaving the stage, the energetic crowed requested an encore from the young Jamaican who took the opportunity to advise youths about the ills of society and the importance of making the right decisions.

The night ended with energetic vibes by DJ Kevy Kev.

SKNVibes Entertainment seized the opportunity to speak to a number of patrons, all of whom were in high praise of the White Sands event, which is in its third year, and extended their congratulations to the organisers.

A male native of the Netherlands, who stated that it was his second attendance at the annual event, said that based on what he experienced last year, “this time around the crowd was much larger and the excitement much more intense. Also, the VIP experience was much better and I am certainly not going to miss next year’s event. Kudos to the organisers”!

A returning Swede patron expressed similar views, noting that “the turnout was much bigger as opposed to last year’s. I honestly believe that the promoters might need a larger venue if attendance keeps climbing at this rate”.

As a first-time patron, a female Kittitian said she was surprised at the large turnout and stated that she loved the “white concept of the beach party. I must commend the person or persons for this entertainment initiative. It is something quite different to the many parties I have attended in the past…it is a new experience for me”.

White Sands is the official ‘Cool Down Party’ of the St. Kitts Music Festival and it was sponsored by LIME, Carib Brewery, St. Kienjoyedtts Music Festival, St. Kitts and Nevis/Anguilla National Bank, iRep SKN, Opus Fines Wine and Spirit, Island Purified Water, IC Jewelers, Express Events, St. Kitts Marriot Resort and SKNVibes.
