BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – REIGNING St. Kitts and Nevis Carnival Queen Kaeve Armstrong early this morning (July 5) finished First Runner-up at the Miss Carival Pageant held at Victoria Park in St. Vincent and Grenadines.

Armstrong, along with nine other beauties from across the Caribbean region and South America, competed for the title in five categories: Introduction, Talent, Swimwear, Eveningwear and Final Interview.

At the end of the fierce competition, Dominica’s Francine Baron was crowned Miss Carival 2014, while the St. Kitts and Nevis beauty was adjudged First Runner-up and walked away with the awards for Best Talent and Best Interview.

However, according to I-Witness News, vocal patrons at the front of the stage felt that Kaeve Armstrong should have won the competition.

The Second Runner-up position went to Miss Antigua and Barbuda Raynel Carroll who also won the Best Evening Wear segment.

This is the second consecutive year that a beauty from the Nature Isle has won the pageant, and Baron also took away the awards for Miss Congeniality and Best Swimwear.

I-Witness News reported that Baron told reporters that “her victory is a power to her students that consistency always pays off”.

Miss Antigua and Barbuda Raynell Carrol finished Second Runner-up and copped the Best Evening Wear award during the process, while Miss Guyana Kiswana Jefford took the award for the Most Community-Spirited and the Most Photogenic award went to St. Lucia’s Amy Stephen.

The other contestants were  Miss Barbados Zhane Padmore, Miss Jamaica Danielle Black, Miss Martinique Alexandra Chastel, Miss Venezuela Genesis Valera Seijas, and Miss SVG Shadeisha George.

Armstrong will now prepare for her second regional pageant, Miss Jaycess’s Queen Show, scheduled for Friday (Aug. 1) in Antigua and Barbuda.
