BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE twin-island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis will be represented by a 12-member team at the Commonwealth Games later this month in Glasgow, Scotland.
The team comprising of a strong nine-member track and field unit and three table tennis players is expected to represent at the Games to be held from July 23 to August 3.
President of the National Olympic Committee Alphonso Bridgewater made the announcement on Sunday (July 6) at the OECS Track and Field Championships held at the Silver Jubilee Stadium.
“It gives me great pleasure to make this announcement. We wanted to leave it until this moment because we have some very dedicated and committed track and field fans. So before even the media gets it, we now want to announce the team that will represent the Federation at the Commonwealth Games from July 23.”
He then proceeded to announce the athletes that make up the team.
“The team is Antoine Adams in the 100m, 200m and the 4x100m; Allistar Clarke in the 4x100m; Delwyane Delaney in the 4x100m; Warren Hazel in the 400m; Brijesh Lawrence in the200m, the alternate for the 100m and the 4x100m; Jason Rogers in the 100m and 4x100m; and Lestrod Roland in the 400m and the 4x100m.
“On the ladies side Marecia Pemberton in the 100m, and Meritzer Williams in the 100m and the 200m.
“Earlier last month, the other discipline we will be represented in, table tennis, that team was announced but for the sake of clarity I could tell you the team members are Andre Freeman, Angellisa Freeman and Calvin Lake. Kevin Hope will be the Manager/Coach of that team.”
The Management Staff for Team St Kitts and Nevis will be headed by Leroy Greene who will serve as Chef de Mission, while Lester Hanley will serve as General Team Manager and Press Attaché, and Dennis Knight as Team Attaché.
Track and Field Team Manager will be Burchell Crooke while the Track and Field Head Coach will be Stewart Joseph.
