CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – THE juvenile who yesterday (July 8) allegedly threw an explosive device on the premises of the Charlestown Police Station is facing terrorism-related charges.

A police release today stated that at about 4:35 p.m. yesterday, a bottle of Molotov Cocktail was thrown on the police station’s compound and investigations are currently being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department.

It also stated that a juvenile was taken into custody and “will face charges for this act of terrorism and attack on the station”.

“This act is a very serious act and will be treated as an act of terrorism and an attack on law enforcement and the country as a whole, and will not be left unchecked,” the release quoted Assistant Commissioner of Police Robert Liburd as saying.

It also stated that Commissioner of Police Celvin ‘CG’ Walwyn said that the resources available to the Police Force would be utilised to investigate this daring and traitorous act against the police and the state.

“A thorough investigation is ongoing and all the relevant and necessary charges will be brought against the person or persons involved,” he added.
