BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - DOUBLE National Sprint Champion Antoine Adams edged former 100m World Champion and record-holder Asafa Powell in a 100m event yesterday (July 15) in Luzern, Switzerland.

The race was won by Jamaican Julian Forte in 10.23 seconds, with Antoine Adams of St Kitts and Nevis placing second in 10.29 seconds. Powell was third with a 10.30-second time.

This was Powell’s first appearance since being cleared to compete after his suspension - for taking a banned substance - was reduced to six months.

This past weekend Adams enjoyed double success in Belgium with a win and a second place finish in the 200m and 100m events respectively.

Powell and fellow Jamaican Sherone Simpson have had their doping bans reduced from 18 months to six months by the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
