BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A young woman who was making an attempt to cross the road from one side of The Circus to another, was struck by a vehicle and had to be transported to the Joseph N. France (JNF) General Hospital.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. and according to eyewitness accounts, a line of vehicles were heading up Fort Street and at intervals, traffic was at a standstill.

The eyewitnesses explained that the victim walked between two vehicles which were at a standstill in the vicinity of the Palms Arcade, when a man - driving a pickup truck - attempted to overtake two vehicles on the left hand side of the road, striking the pedestrian in the process.

SKNVibes understands that she was struck in the hip area and although the impact did not cause her to fall immediately, she eventually took to the ground.

The Emergency Medical Services and members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force were summoned to the scene and while investigations were being conducted, the victim was transported to JNF for treatment.

This publication does not know of the extent of the victim’s injuries.

SKNVibes made attempts to contact the Police Force’s Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Lyndon David concerning this matter, but the calls were unanswered.
