BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - IN the wake of the controversy surrounding the Basseterre High School (BHS) one parent have given a chilling account of her and her son’s ordeal in the matter.
Julia Isaac - mother of a student at BHS - while speaking at a press conference held by the St. Kitts Teachers Union (SKTU) on Friday (Jul. 18) recounted the tribulation she and her son were put through.
“I am here mainly on the issue concerning my child’s health and welfare. My child was one of those who had everything that was dished out. He had rashes, sores in the mouth, headaches, red eyes, chest pains... you name it.”
She added that after seeing her son with those manifestations, she took him to get medical attention and found out she had a “walking time bomb”.
“I took him to the doctors, when they did some blood work, the enzymes in the liver and the heart was sky high. I had a walking time bomb.”
Isaac said she gets annoyed while speaking on the matter and claimed she is still puzzled by the entire situation.
“I get very irritated…this is not something I want to deal with… I don’t like to speak about it. I have pictures of my child. I don’t understand what is going on. I don’t know if the symptoms and everything that happened to my child is a hoax.”
The mother said she needed to know - should her son encounter further difficulty - who would claim responsibility.
“I would like somebody to speak to me about it and I need to know that 5 – 10 years down the road if my child comes down with something who can I turn to? Who would be responsible for this situation? And that my concern, that is my issue. I have spent plenty I don’t expect noting back because is my child.”
The passionate mother could was unable to complete her presentation at the press conference as she was overwhelmed with emotion.
