Differently-abled receives donation from business owner

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - JUST days after they were robbed of five computers – and other equipment - donations have already started rolling in for the St. Kitts-Nevis Association of Persons with Disabilities (SKNAPD) with one business owner making a monetary donation today (Jul. 24).

     

    Kirby Samuel of Leumus Farms – a new business in the Federation - said he was moved by the heartless act perpetrated against the SKNAPD and felt obligated to make a donation.

    “We are a new business here in St. Kitts and Nevis. When I saw the article on SKNVibes speaking about the breaking here, I was moved. I had to do something…I felt it was incumbent on me to step up and start what I hope will be many donation which will help Mr. Mills and his Association get back on their feet in terms of doing the good work that they have started in training persons with disabilities.

    He reiterated his hope that other individuals and or businesses would make donations to the group.

    “My hope is simply that with my small gift other persons and businesses will follow suit and contribute whatever you can in cash and kind.”
     
    In response to the donation President of the SKNAPD Anthony Mills thanked Samuel for the gesture and stated that the contribution will help in getting the Association back on its feet.

    “I want to say thank you to Mr. Samuel on behalf of the association. This sure will help us get back some of the stuff that we need. We really need them to continue the work we have been doing.”

    He informed that another business has already come on board to provide security on the building. 

    “Caribbean Securities, through their owner Paul Ferguson, will be donating a security system and he will be coming to install either today or tomorrow.”

    Five computers, a camera and a television were taken from a Computer Lab opened at the McKnight Community Centre.
