St.Vincent and the Grenadines Senator for UNITY Youth Convention

    Basseterre, St.Kitts (Youth of UNITY) -- Described as a  fearless  Renaissance woman St.Vincent and the Grenadines Opposition NDP Senator Attorney Vynnette  Frederick will be one of the featured speakers at this weekends inaugural Youth of UNITY Convention to be held on Saturday August 23rd at the OOJJ's Convention Center at 1pm. 

     

    Frederick is the youngest member of the NDP Executive, and sole Female candidate in the upcoming elections for the New Democratic Party. Vynnette has been involved in politics since she was eligible to vote. 

    “Ms Frederick was easily at the top of our list when we considered possible speakers for our inaugural convention, “said one of the organizers.

    “She is not only a youth but a female and possesses the right experiences to endear, engage and encourage our youths to strive for enhanced self development and the development of the country. So we were ecstatic when she accepted our invitation," the Organizing Committee Member concluded.
     
    Ms Frederick expressed her delight in receiving the invitation and indicated her enthusiasm regarding her presentation to the youths of the federation.

    The Attorney and NDP Candidate said “I look forward to meeting and speaking with the young people who are striving to change the way politics works in St. Kitts-Nevis and the Caribbean. The job isn't easy but I know that our youth have what it takes to shake up the establishment and make meaningful change for the betterment of their community and nation.”

    Senator Hon. Vynnette Frederick brought to politics in St.Vincent and the Grenadines a varied background, strong in academics, the arts, culture, oratory and media. Add to that a winning personality and you can understand why for many she is a refreshing addition to the political landscape of that country.

    An Attorney at Law by profession, and described as a fearless advocate, Frederick began her education at the Kingstown Preparatory School, St. Vincent Girls’ High School where she won the prestigious Jaycees Public Speaking Competition and became a spokesperson on youth issues locally. Her A level education took place at the St. Vincent Grammar School where, as a student she was involved in Drama. Vynnette taught English Literature, Language and Caribbean History for three years after graduating. Her entry into politics came at the invitation of Hon. Arnhim Eustace when Vynnette was only 19 years old.
     
    Appearing on the rostrum back in 1998, Frederick’s presence on the rostrum was described as fiery. She appeared as the first video deejay on the innovative Guinness Power Jams programme. She studied Law at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill, where she her involvement in student activism and governance as Vice President of the Guild of Students, coupled with her involvement in Sport and Culture saw her recognized and awarded throughout her years there. She went on to the Hugh Wooding Law School and returned after her two year programme to St. Vincent. She immediately returned to her love of Guiding and became involved in the music and cultural industry, and the NDP.

    A woman of varied talents Frederick is a poet, calypsonian, rapper, dancehall artiste and regionally recognized motivational speaker who is wildly popular among the youth for her no holds barred approach to life and success. Undoubtedly she is comfortable on any stage speaking to any audience. She gained regional acclaim as part of the judging panel on the widely watched Digicel Rising Stars Competition filmed on location in Barbados. Frederick wet her feet in politics running for Elections, for the first time in the Constituency of West St. George in 2010.

    She is the Public Relations Officer of the NDP and has devoted her efforts to the youth and the PR of the party where she is regarded as a fantastic first point of contact between the local, regional and international public and the party executive. She sits as the lone female Senator appointed by the Opposition in Parliament. Frederick, a self confessed techie is the Shadow Minister of Culture Science and Information Technology, Women’s Affairs within the NDP.
