BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, August 26th 2014 (CUOPM) – A senior official of Hyatt hotel has expressed delight with the advanced pace of construction of the Park Hyatt St. Kitts on the island’s South East Peninsula.

“We are very excited to be bringing the Park Hyatt brand to a destination like St. Kitts, which is rich in culture, history and natural beauty. Park Hyatt St. Kitts will evoke a strong sense of place through its design and the unforgettable experiences its guests will enjoy,” said Hyatt’s Senior Vice President of Field Operations for Latin America and the Caribbean, Mr. Myles McGourty.

Mr. McGourty and his team of Hyatt executives also visited other tourism products on St. Kitts and Nevis and expressed satisfaction at their quality, and the direction that the destination is taking.

He added he was also delighted to see and experience the quality and enthusiasm of the Kittitian workforce.

“We remain committed to fostering future associates that will help one another achieve their full potential to better serve our guests, and each other, every day,” said Mr. McGourty, who along with the top Hyatt regional executives reviewed the progress being made and to begin putting plans in place for the hotel’s operations, which are scheduled to commence in early 2016.

The development of Park Hyatt St. Kitts is a significant component of Hyatt’s growing brand portfolio in Latin America and the Caribbean.

While in the Federation, the Hyatt executives also met with St. Kitts and Nevis’ Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Sen. the Hon. Richard Skerritt, and a team of Government Officials to discuss the upcoming marketing and human resource needs for the planned 200-key luxury resort, of which 134 rooms are expected to be open during the winter season of 2015/2016.

Minister Skerritt said Hyatt is recognized as a leader in promoting and nurturing a positive and diverse workplace environment and its strong commitment to these issues in support of the future Park Hyatt St. Kitts is evident.

“Addressing matters of people empowerment, an underlying principle of our Labour Party Government, is a value we share. I am particularly pleased to learn about the company´s philosophy in supporting the hiring of local employees, and providing them with the necessary training needed in order to develop their skills for this unique project,” Minister Skerritt said.

Vice Chairman and Co-Founder of Dubai-based Range Developments, the developer of Park Hyatt St. Kitts, Mr. Mohammed Asaria, accompanied the Hyatt officials on their tour of St. Kitts and neighbouring Nevis, and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the hotel project to date.

“I am delighted to see that work is proceeding as planned,” said Mr Asaria. “We are committed to providing quality jobs for the people of St. Kitts and helping to boost the economic growth of this lovely Caribbean island.”
