BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - The installation of lights and a new jumbotron at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium has been one of the major steps in the development of that facility but another addition to the facility is being spoken highly of, as it gives differently-abled individuals an opportunity to enjoy cricket.
Just before the 2014 Limacol Caribbean Premier League (CPL) bowled off in St. Kitts and Nevis, Warner Park was equipped with special seating for differently abled persons
In a recent interview with the media, Anthony Mills, President of the St. Kitts-Nevis Association of Persons with Disabilities (SKNAPD), welcomed the addition to the facility.
“This is a major addition and a step in the right direction. It gives everyone the opportunity to come out and witness the occasion. It is something that was long overdue because disabled people like cricket too.”
Mills recalled a particular occasion when he had to be assisted in order to view cricket in Warner Park.
“I remember one time when I went to watch cricket and one of the fire officers had to lift me up and carry me to the stand. But this facility is a major improvement.”
Mills’ Association also received aid from the CPL; it was one of three charities to benefit from the inaugural Beefy’s Bash which featured the likes of Brian Lara and Piers Morgan among other celebrities.
