SKN put in good bowling display versus Bangladesh

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A solid bowling performance from a St. Kitts-Nevis team in the first day of the three-day warm-up match against Bangladesh on Saturday (Aug. 30) at Warner Park, Basseterre left Bangladesh at 330-6 at close of play.

Featuring the likes of West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Quinton Boatswain of Montserrat, the game saw the touring side struggling at 186-6.

However a more than 100-run partnership between their captain Mushfiqur Rahim and Nasir Hossain helped their team to a respectable 330-6 at stumps on day one.

Mushfiqur finished the day on 86 not out, while his partner Nasir finished 78 not out.

Bowling for St. Kitts and Nevis, Quinton Boatswain collected two wickets for 35 runs while Jeremiah Louis got two wickets for 36.

One standout performer of the day was the 16-year-old St. Kitts-Nevis wicket-keeper Jaleel Clarke who took two catches including one in the fourth over to dismiss Shamsur Rahman off the bowling of Boatswain.

Clarke, despite his diminutive stature, dove about six feet down the leg side to remove the opening batman for just 1.

He also had a tidy day otherwise with little mistakes made throughout the day.

The game will continue today (Aug31) with Day 2.
