BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE ruling St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) is adamant that General Elections would not be called until 2015.
Speaking at a rally in West Basseterre on Saturday Evening (Sept. 6), SKNLP candidate for Constituency Number Three Konris Maynard disclosed that he was to meet with a number of persons to discuss the re-establishment of Village-O-Rama in November and stated that the Prime Minister cannot call the elections before then.
“You know once I working on Village-O-Rama in November, the Prime Minister can’t call no elections. He can’t call no election, I have to finish Village-O-Rama first.
“So tell dem tek it easy. We gone mek dem wait. They have to wait…when you in charge you in charge. You don’t become Prime Minister just so…you have the power to make dem wait, so PM, mek dem wait.”
Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Earl Asim Martin shared similar sentiments to Maynard’s.
“He ain’t ‘Finish De Song’ yet. He says he singing in the calypso competition Christmas because elections sometime next year… mek dem wait.”
Prime Minister and Political Leader of the SKNLP, the Rt, Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas then took to the stage and echoed the views of the two previous speakers.
“I came here to say that Labour is stronger, better, wiser and we ready for them, but I was not going to say mek dem wait. I was going to say me nar wait no longer but Konris say ah must wait.
“He say a must wait you know…you see how things go? I now coming to say leh we go! He say mus’ wait because he got something to do in November and you know what? Ah gone wait. De king say a must wait, so a gone wait.”
