PM Douglas aborts Emergency Sitting of Parliament in Failed Attempt to Embarrass the CCM led Nevis Island Administration

Press Release (TUCOM)

Basseterre, St.Kitts (TUCOM):-In what is being described as a blatant abuse of the parliament the Dr. Denzil Douglas led illegitimate government was forced to abruptly abort a planned emergency sitting of parliament on Wednesday September 17th in Basseterre.

After the meeting was called to order some 90 minutes after the scheduled 10am start time, the Speaker of the Assembly Hon. Curtis Martin delivered his usual introductory remarks before opening the floor at which time Dr. Denzil  Douglas stood and in a brief statement moved that the assembly be adjourned  as he was withdrawing the two resolutions on which the emergency sitting was largely based.

According to a Social Media release this morning by the CUOPM the parliament was to have dealt with two main items related to the Nevis Island Administration.

The brief release read “Parliament has been called into an emergency sitting today, Wednesday, for the Ministry of Finance to seek Parliamentary approval from lawmakers for the Federal Government to guarantee two loan requests from the Nevis Island Administration. The meeting takes place in the National Assembly Chambers, Government Headquarters, in Basseterre,”

However the Premier of Nevis the Hon. Vance Amory and leader of the NIA has suggested that his administration never made any official  request for loan guarantees from the federal government.

Opposition parliamentarians including Premier Amory were only notified this morning when order paper was delivered to them, of what was on the paper and were clueless as to the resolutions for loan guarantee on behalf of the NIA until they got wind through the social media post alluded to above.

Dr. Douglas was forced to withdraw the resolutions and abort the parliament and request adjournment as Premier Amory and the NIA made it pellucidly clear that no official request was made to the Federal Government for any loan guarantees.

Dr. Timothy Harris the Leader of Team UNITY and the man who commands the support of the Majority of Elected MP's as Prime Minister blasted the Douglas regime and described the event in parliament as another clear reason for the Dr.Denzil Douglas led administration to leave office immediately.

Harris lamented " What the world saw this morning was the clear signs of a desperate , delusional leader who has obviously lost his way and who seems bent on taking our country with him to whatever dark demonic abode he seems to be heading. The events of this morning were unwarranted and unprecedented and if the country and the people of Nevis in particular needed any clearer indication that our country and both peoples would do well to get rid of Douglas they got it this morning. If the filing of a third MONC needed any justification we got one this morning as the illegitimate Prime Minister has once again shown signs of a man who is desperate and  delusional. Characteristics that should never be a part of any  leader. This morning was nothing more than a Mockery of Parliament and Good Governance. Douglas must go now so that our country could experience the prosperous, brighter and better days they deserve."
