It is that time of the year again when students of the Clarence Fitzroy Bryan College are gearing up to elect a new student government body. As of the 26th of September, YOLO (Youth Organization Looking Forward) is the lone party that has been launched in anticipation of the October elections. Though opposition appears to be absent from the arena, this comprehensive team led by Abigail Liburd (President) and Kaleel Garroden (Vice President) with representatives from all divisions has not let this lull them into complacency. Since their launch on the 10th of September, YOLO has been making waves across the campus. Operating like a well oiled machine with the goal of improving the college experience for the student body, YOLO has already done more than any student government has done over the past few years. This party, funded solely by the personal monetary sacrifice of its members has already managed to secure a microwave and a water fountain which will be available to students free of cost in response to the student body’s need for these items. Although they have not yet been elected, it is evident that YOLO is already demonstrating their commitment to their mission of building a college where all students are provided with the necessary conditions to foster learning.
YOLO envisions a new brand of politics at the prestigious institution where students elect representatives based on merit rather than friendships and popularity, a problem that has plagued the college election process in the past. YOLO has already done much more than any party has dared to do and has even more in store for the students of the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College. As to whether any other party will eventually emerge from the woodwork is unknown but YOLO promises to continue operating at optimum level with or without competition. You only live once, so do it right and vote YOLO!
