The Ministry of Health, St. Kitts and Nevis, wishes to inform the general public that health officials on both islands continue to closely monitor the Ebola situation in parts of West Africa, as well as the first case diagnosed in the United States on Tuesday September 30th.
Residents are asked to remain calm. There is no need for fear, alarm and panic. There is no ban on international travel and trade.
The Ministry of Health continues to work closely with regional and international agencies to ensure that systems are in place to prevent, treat and contain the spread of Ebola. Guidance information will continue to be circulated to health care workers in the public and private sectors to enable all health care workers to identify and manage the disease, and to protect themselves from exposure, in the unlikely event of a case in the Federation.
CARPHA’s assessment of Caribbean as “low risk” has not changed. Situation updates will be issued to the public when warranted. Residents are encouraged to consult the websites of CARPHA, PAHO/WHO and US CDC for factual and reliable information.
The Office of the Chief Medical Officer is available to respond to questions.
