Press Release

Thursday, October 2, 2014 - Class Five students at the Willard Wheatley and Francis Lettsome Primary Schools are recipients of copies of a new book on the environment.

The students received copies of the book titled “This Land: A Trust From God” earlier today.

Author Verna Penn Moll is partnering with volunteers who are willing to give the book to as many students as possible so that they may own a copy, read it and take meaningful action together with their parents and teachers.

According to Mrs. Penn-Moll, the book speaks holistically about the Environment and tackles vital areas of our value system and culture which need to be instilled and addressed in young people.

“It brings awareness about the environment and it invokes us as caretakers to unite in effort to preserve our land and environment.” she added.

Mrs Penn-Moll pointed out that creating reading materials with which the young people and the general public could identify is a significant step in maintaining literacy and lifelong readers.

The book’s author was present at the presentation ceremonies while Mr. Jeremiah Frett represented the Ministry of Education and Culture. Other presentations will follow as volunteers avail themselves of the opportunity to partner with this initiative.

“This Land: A Trust From God” was launched on July 25 during a ceremony at the Breezeway of the Central Administration Building.
