BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE police officer who was charged with drug possession was convicted and slapped with a hefty fine, and in addition to be taken before a tribunal, his dismissal from the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) has been recommended.

Constable Kevern Adams of Taylors Village joined the police force earlier this year and has been attached to the Nevis Division was charged – late last week – with possession of cannabis – and according to reports, he recently appeared before the court in Nevis.

Inspector Lyndon David – Public Relations Officer to the RSCNPF told SKNVibes that Adams appeared before a tribunal “a couple of days ago” on a charge of discreditable conduct and was found guilty.

He also indicated that having been found guilty, Adams’ dismissal from the RSCNPF has been recommended.

David noted that there are a number of processes which would have to be followed before the recommendation for dismissal could take effect.

Adams had his day in court and was criminally convicted of possession of cannabis with intent to supply. According to reports, the young man was slammed with a $10,000-fine to be paid within six months and if he fails to adhere to that court order, he would be jailed for a three-year period.

Inspector David indicated that the police would be disseminating a communique about this matter sometime this morning.
