CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – FOLLOWING a joint Police and Customs operation in Nevis on Monday (Oct. 6), a young man was slapped with nine charges including importation of firearms and ammunition.
Speaking with Police Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Lyndon David, SKNVibes learned that the young man charged is one Caldre Chapman of Matchman’s Village in Gingerland, Nevis.
He was charged with two counts of Importation of Firearm, two counts of Importation of Ammunition, four counts of Attempting to Evade Customs and one count of Making a False Declaration.
This media house also learned that Chapman is alleged to have imported two firearms and a quantity of matching ammunition, and that all charges are Customs-related.
He is currently in police custody and was to appear before a City Magistrate today (Oct. 13) for bail application, but because of the storm warning – Tropical Storm Gonzalo – the hearing has been rescheduled for tomorrow.
